Tendai Huchu
Tendai Huchu est né en 1982 à Bindura au Zimbabwe et vit aujourd’hui à Edinbourg en Ecosse. Le Meilleur Coiffeur de Harare est son premier roman. Acclamé par la critique, il a été shortlisté pour le Caine Prize 2014.
T.L. Huchu is the author of the Edinburgh Nights series, which concluded with the fifth and final, BSFA shortlisted, novel « Secrets of the First School ». He also writes short fiction which has appeared in numerous venues including ‘Lightspeed’, ‘Interzone’, ‘Analog Science Fiction & Fact’, and been broadcast on BBC Radio 4. Tendai dabbles in translation between the Shona and English languages and his next project “The Four Marriages of Nakai Banga” is heavily influenced by this experience. Vimbai est la meilleure coiffeuse du Zimbabwe. Fille-mère énergique et battante, c’est la reine du salon de Mme Khumala. Mais le vent tourne le jour où le jeune Dumi arrive. Surdoué de la coiffure, beau, généreux, attentionné, il détrône vite la star, qui enrage de plus belle lorsqu’elle décide de louer une chambre chez elle et qu’il se propose comme colocataire. Bientôt, la jalousie se mue en amour et Vimbai s’adoucit, est introduite auprès de la riche et adorable famille de Dumi, se prend à rêver mariage…
Mais Dumi cache un secret bien caché, dont Vimbai la première sera dupe.
Sur un ton enlevé et joyeux, Le Meilleur Coiffeur de Harare est tout à la fois une comédie de classe forte et légère, et un portrait magistral du Zimbabwe, en faillite et corrompu, mais plein de dynamisme.
